Mark Verdino is a bassist based in New York City.  He is fluent on both acoustic bass and fretted and fretless electric bass.  Mark recently completed a 6 month arena world tour playing bass for actor/singer Hugh Jackman. Mark is a sub on the broadway shows Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, Mrs. Doubtfire, Camelot, A Beautiful Noise, Kimberly Akimbo, School of Rock, Jersey Boys, Book of Mormon, Aladdin, Mean Girls, Jagged Little Pill, Waitress, Pretty Woman, Hello Dolly, Matilda, On Your Feet, The Prom, A Bronx Tale, Finding Neverland, Bandstand, The Great Comet, Fun Home, Gigi, Mary Poppins, Spring Awakening, Young Frankenstein, The Pirate Queen and Movin’ Out.  Mark held the bass chair for the Jersey Boys 1st National Tour, Jersey Boys 2nd National Tour, Aladdin 1st National Tour and the Spring Awakening 1st national tour.  He also subs in the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra and in the band for the Big Apple Circus.  He plays in the corporate party/club date band LUXE.  He played for 10 years in the acclaimed Dave Matthews Tribute Band Ants Marching, as well as the Billy Joel Tribute Glass Houses.  Mark is also the chair of bass instruction at Five Towns College in Dix Hills NY, and he keeps an active private student studio.  Mark is endorsed by D’Addario strings, New York Bass Works basses, Aguilar amplifiers and MONO accessories.

 

    Mark was born and raised on Long Island, New York.  He received his bachelor’s degree from the Crane School of Music where he performed in the Jazz Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Latin Ensemble, and the Faculty Jazz Quintet.  This included performances alongside Jim Snidero, John Riley, Conrad Herwig, Dick Oatts, Scott Wendholt and Chris Washburn.  He also performed in the opening ceremony for the Good Will Games in Lake Placid, and received awards from playing at the Notre Dame Jazz Festival in 1999.

 

    Mark moved to New York City in 2001 to attend the Manhattan School of Music.  He received his Masters degree in Jazz Performance in 2003.  While at MSM he performed in the Jazz Band, Jazz Orchestra, Afro Cuban Ensemble as well as numerous small ensembles.  He performed alongside Bob Mintzer, Hilton Ruiz, Dave Valentine, David Sanchez, Arturo O’Farill, and Bobby Sanabria. There he studied with Harvie S, Gary Dial, Mike Abene and Dave Liebman.
