Lessons on electric bass or acoustic bass (or both)!

I love sharing my 20+ years of professional experience with aspiring students of all ages.

Lessons will include technique, ear training, theory, reading (both notes and chord changes).

Playing in different styles of music including but not limited to: Jazz, Fusion, Pop, Latin, Motown and R&B and Rock.

On electric bass techniques such as slapping, chordal playing, tapping and using harmonics, playing with a pick. Playing written basslines and also knowing how to create your own basslines over the chords of a song. Soloing over chord changes in different styles of music.

On acoustic bass playing Jazz, creating your own basslines and solos. Using the bow, in classical and other styles of music. NYSSMA preparation for either Classical or Jazz styles.

Topics will also include: knowing how to set up your instrument properly, instrument care and maintenance, knowing what to look for when buying a bass, strings, amplifiers and other accessories. Guidance on what skills it takes to be a full time professional musician.
